RED DELICIOUS – Pruning Trees

Pruning RED DELICIOUS trees involves removing crossing branches to improve air circulation and reduce disease susceptibility. To promote healthy growth, prune away any weak or spindly shoots on RED DELICIOUS tree branches. Removing water sprouts from RED DELICIOUS trees helps direct energy to fruiting wood and increases yields. Pruning the central leader of a RED DELICIOUS tree encourages an open canopy and more sunlight penetration. By pruning RED DELICIOUS trees annually, you can control size, shape, and encourage heavy fruit production year after year.
