Definition - MINERALS - Sedimentary
Sedimentary minerals are formed through the accumulation and cementation of sedimentary particles over time. These minerals often have a layered or banded appearance due to varying chemical composition. Some examples of common sedimentary minerals include calcite, gypsum, and halite, all formed from seawater. The formation of sedimentary minerals can occur through various geological processes, including precipitation and diagenesis. Sedimentary minerals are often found in sedimentary rock formations, such as limestone and shale deposits.
