Definition
Louisiana is a state located in the southern United States. It borders Texas to the west, Arkansas to the north, and Mississippi to the east. The Gulf of Mexico lies to the south. New Orleans, its largest city, is famous for jazz music and Mardi Gras celebrations. Cajun and Creole cuisines are distinct features of Louisiana's culture. Bayous, swamps, and wetlands cover much of the state's terrain. Agriculture, particularly sugarcane and soybeans, is an important industry.
