Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity over a given period of time An object's acceleration is directly proportional to the force applied to it As an object moves faster, its acceleration decreases due to friction forces Acceleration can be caused by changes in direction or speed or both In physics, acceleration is often represented by the symbol "a" with units of meters/second^2
