Jesus chose twelve apostles to be his closest followers and leaders. The apostles were ordinary men who became extraordinary in Jesus' eyes. Peter, John, James, and Andrew were among the most well-known apostles. After Jesus' death, the apostles continued his teachings and spread his message.
