Definition - ELECTRONICS - Diodes
Diodes are electronic components that allow current to flow only in one direction. A diode is a type of semiconductor device used for rectification and regulation. Diodes can be designed to block high voltage while allowing low voltage through easily. Rectifier diodes convert AC power into DC power efficiently and reliably. Zener diodes have a reverse breakdown voltage and are used as voltage regulators.
