Definition
John Abbott was a Canadian politician who served as the 3rd Prime Minister of Canada from March 1891 to November 1892. Abbott was born in Quebec City, Quebec, and studied at McGill University and the UniversitΓ© Laval. He began his political career in the provincial legislature of Quebec, serving as a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1867 to 1874. In 1881, Abbott was elected to the Canadian House of Commons and served until his appointment as Prime Minister in 1891.
